Parent Support Group (PSG) Conferences in November 2014 @ Ai Tong School & Tampines Primary School

Were you at the inaugural PSG Conference in April 2014? By popular demand, the event is back, this time to be held at 2 schools! Invite your parents to register at one of the following PSG Conferences where they can learn strategies to better support other parents and your school. National Day Celebration

Dear Parents,

It's Singapore's 49th Birthday! Ai Tong School is celebrating National Day on 08 August 2014, Friday. Here's another opportunity to have an awesome bonding and fun time with the children!

Session 1 (P4 to P6) : 7:20am to 9:30am
Session 2 (P1 to P3) : 8:30am to 10:30am
Venue: Ai Tong School - 4300 Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 Singapore 569869

There will be a total of 11 stations that requires support from the Parent Volunteers - 5 stations in the P4-P6 session, and another 6 stations in the P1-P3 session.

Games involved are National Day related questions, bowling, dance, jigsaw puzzle, etc.

Updates from Partnerships in Education Office(MOE)

Dear Parent Support Group Chairpersons/Parent Representatives,

                Greetings from the Partnerships in Education Office!  We would like to update you on a few key areas this month:

Inaugural Parent Support Group (PSG) Conference

               Over 450 PSG representatives from schools attended the inaugural PSG Conference held on 12 April at Suntec Convention Centre.  Parents shared that they have learnt much from the guest speakers as well as parents who shared at the concurrent sessions.  To read more about what happened at the conference, please click here.
Enhanced Parents in Education (PiE) Mobile App
               PiE Mobile App now has a neater newsfeed style interface and new features. By setting a personal profile, you will receive news that are relevant to your child’s education level. You are now also able to take part in quick polls and sync the events listed in the app, including school holidays, into your phone’s calendar! Download the enhanced PiE Mobile App now -- iOS or Android and encourage your PSG members to do so too!
National School Games 2014
                For parents interested in sports, catch the National School Games TV Series on SuperSports Arena (Channel 201) on StarHub TV.  (For non-StarHub TV customers, you can tune in to 76.25Mhz and get this channel for free).  The series premieres with new episodes at 7.30pm every Tuesday.  In addition to exciting competition highlights from the National School Games, each episode takes a look at a school’s sporting history and achievements, and how sports inspired values and character development in our school athletes.  The series also teaches viewers the game basics of sports played in the National School Games.  Catch the trailer here!
Planning for June holidays?
                For parents who are planning for family activities during the June holidays, the MOE Heritage Centre will be a good place to learn about how education has evolved in Singapore.  The Centre has three floors of galleries and an Inspiration Garden.  There are historical artefacts, audios, videos and interactive stations.  If you are considering a family activity for your PSG and families during the holidays, there are guided tours available if your group has more than 9 people.  For more information, click here.

2014 Lunar New Year cum Appreciation and Welcome Lunch Gathering

Ai Tong School’s Parent Support Group (PSG) will be organizing a Chinese New Year cum appreciation and welcome lunch gathering on 7th February, Friday as our first activity in 2014.  All are invited and are welcome to bring your family along for this occasion.

In this auspicious occasion, the PSG would like to thank all the volunteers, who had spared their time helping out at the school activities during the year 2013.   At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newly joined PSG members as to get to know each other better and have a great bonding time. The PSG is looking forward to your continuous support in the school’s future activities.

Besides, “Loi Hei”, appetizing home cooked Lunar New Year dishes, we have lucky draw prizes too sponsored by some of the parents.

We do welcome parents who would like to contribute food (Pot-Luck style) and lucky draw prizes for this happy occasion too. Please indicate in the Food Contribution section below when you sign up for the event.

Of course, lion dance performances will also be there to cheer the children and bring good luck to everyone for a smooth year ahead.

Good Neighbourhood Movement – Ai Tong Chinese New Year Event for Residents of Blks 540 to 565

The Ai Tong School teachers, primary six students and PSG will be organizing a Chinese New Year event
for the residents staying at blocks 540 to 565, Ang Mo Kio Ave 10.
The school will also be inviting 30 old folks from the Lions Befrienders to join the event.

The event will be held on 10 Feb, 1.30pm to 3.30pm, at the void deck of Blk 541 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10.

This is a meaningful initiative which we do warmly request for parents to join our children to reach out and
integrate with the neighbourhood.

The following are the areas and timing that we are appealing to parents for assistance:

1) 5 Feb, anytime between 8am to 3pm, PSG Room: Preparation of the decoration and games props , need 20-50 parents.
2) 8 Feb, 7pm: Distribution of flyers to units at blocks 540 to 565, need 100 parents.
3) 10 Feb, 10am to 4pm: Event setup, man game booths, event tear down, need 20 parents.
